WorkSafe requires any person who recovers refrigerant into cylinders in the course of servicing or installing refrigeration or AC systems to have an Approved Filler Compliance Certificate. A Compliance Certificate (license) is valid for 5 years. If you have an existing license which needs renewing please look at the Renewal page

 Who is this Course for?

WorkSafe says… “People filling containers with gases under pressure, including cylinders, aerosols, and non-refillable containers must be trained and hold an approved filler compliance certificate. An approved filler compliance certificate must be issued by a compliance certifier.”

Course Content

This comprehensive 1-day course provides the essential theory and practical skills to safely and legally recover A1 and A2L refrigerant under pressure into recovery cylinders. Delivered in a classroom/workshop setting, the course aims to teach, assess, and certify you all in one day. We provide one-on-one advice and help as needed, especially with calculations. Achieve your WorkSafe APPROVED FILLERS COMPLIANCE CERTIFICATE (Refrigerant A1 & A2/A2L).

Course content:

  • Safe practice for you, your workplace, and your equipment
  • NZ Government legislation and regulations
  • Cylinder safety knowledge
  • Gas SDS (safety data sheets), PPE, and all equipment knowledge
  • Cylinder recovery calculations made easy
  • Recovery methods and best practice

Practical Assessment:

  • Assessment of your safe practices – personal and environmental
  • Electrical and other equipment safety checks
  • Perform a recovery of refrigerant including calculations and leak testing
  • Final safety checks and assessment of your competency

What happens after the course?

If your assessment results in a pass you are then lodged with WorkSafe and a Certificate of Compliance Approved Filler – Refrigerants A1 & A2/A2L is issued to you. This will expire in 5 years at which point you will need to be reassessed to get renewed. 

Please note: Unsafe, reckless and careless practices during the course will likely fail you. We take no responsibility should you fail to follow safe practices after the course. This course does not cover A3 or Ammonia refrigerants
